Robert Waley-Cohen, owner of Long Run, has revealed his exciting French import is likely to run in the Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase at Sandown on Saturday, February 6.
Waley-Cohen, who lives at Edge Hill, near Banbury, was thrilled to see his new recruit run out a brilliant winner of the Feltham Novices’ Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day under his son, Sam, after making the switch from Guillame Macaire to Nicky Henderson’s Lambourn stables.
The five-year-old is set to drop back to two and a half miles for his next racecourse appearance, and his owner is not ruling out the possibility of his charge racing over the minimum distance in the Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham in March.
“We obviously knew going to Kempton he was a very good horse,” said Waley-Cohen. “Any horse who has won two Grade 1 races in France is certainly no mug.
“The Scilly Isles is his next target at the moment, and we will just have to see how that goes before we look any further.
“He’ll certainly have an entry in the Arkle and we’ll also have to look at the RSA Chase, but all options are open at the moment.”
