Mel Wilkinson, who helped Banbury win 2-1 at West Witney in a South Clubs' League Division 3A derby, has been called up by England.
She has been selected for the England Under 16 squad training camps in December, January and February ahead of a Four Nations Tournament in Hanover.
Banbury’s win at Witney keeps them top of the table.
With a quick start, Wilkinson soon won a short corner, which Liz McEvoy slotted past the keeper for her first goal in Banbury colours.
Witney increased the pressure and it needed some fine saves by Susie Pollock, deput-ising for Shelley Irvine, to keep the score 1-0 at half-time.
Ali Sturla netted a second for Banbury and although Joy Mangazi grabbed a late consolation goal, it was not enough to salavage a point.
Clare Collis collected her third consecutive player-of-the-match award for Oxford Hawks, but saw them slip to a 2-1 Division 1 defeat at home to Hampstead & Westminster.
Hampstead scored first, followed soon after by an open play goal from Fi Walton.
Anna French threaded a pass up the right, Zoe Salter crossed and Walton slotted into the back of the net.
But the visitors were the only ones to score in the second half, with a good short-corner strike.
Kirsty Brammer bagged a brace in City of Oxford’s 5-0 victory over Staines 2nd in Division 3A.
Anna Nicholson and Rachel Lammey were both outstanding for City, whose other goals came from Lisa Scragg, Rachel Stokes and Lammey.
Rover Oxford knew they would be in for a fast and difficult game against Reading 1A in Division 1, and so it proved as they lost 6-0.
Reading penetrated Rover’s defence after only four minutes and scored others at regular intervals.
Oxford Hawks 2nd chalked up their first league win, to move out of the bottom three in Division 3A, with a 3-2 triumph against Hampstead & Westminster.
Katherine Poulter, Anna Clarke and Sjouke Tolsma got Hawks’ goals.
Oxford University lost 5-0 at home to Maidenhead in Division 2.
BANBURY came away with a 3-2 win at East Division 1 side Waltham Forest in the EH Ladies Trophy on Sunday.
Natasha Nunneley, Olivia Mathews and Charlie Moran were their goalscorers.
