Oxford Hawks slipped into the bottom two in Premier Division 2 of the South League with a 2-1 defeat at fellow strugglers West Hampstead.
Freddie Coppin’s strike was not enough for Hawks as Ron Armstrong and Ben Harrison hit the target for Hampstead.
Banbury produced one of their worst second-half performances of the last three years as they crashed 4-1 at home to high-flying Spencer in Premier Division 1.
The first half had gone well, with Banbury creating plenty of pressure and moving the ball effectively.
They were unlucky to concede twice just before half-time with ricochets and cruel deflections wrong-footing their defence.
But after the break, Banbury conceded a simple short-corner goal, before Will Kellett struck a consolation. Spencer then hit a breakaway fourth.
Oxford University were beaten 3-2 at Tulse Hill & Dulwich, with Richard Bond and Adam Jordan on target.
City of Oxford’s Division 1 match at OMT was more even than the 4-0 home win looks.
But the home team had an expert drag-flicker, who struck four times from short corners in the first half, two deflected in, and there was no way back for City from that.
Dan Smyth’s goal was not enough for Rover Oxford, who went down 2-1 at home to MBB&O Regional 1 leaders PHC Chiswick.
Wallingford won 5-3 at Staines 2nd, where five scored – Matt Armitage, Nich Golding, Angus Jones, James Lanyon and Nick Phillips.
Three accidents on the M40 meant that Rover Oxford 2nd arrived late for their Regional 2 game at Eastcote, and despite good defending by Phil Stansfield, Eastcote took advantage.
Ben White and Jo Brownhill scored for Rover, who lost 4-2.
Witney’s controlled hockey in the second half helped them beat British Airways 4-2 in Divison 2. Tim Hardy completed a hat-trick and Julian Easterbrook got Witney’s other.
