CHRIS Wilder says his in-form Oxford United team are capable of pulling off one of this weekend’s FA Cup shocks – but only if they’re at very best.

The U’s, who have lost only once all season, take on a Yeovil Town side that have been holding their own in League One, but crashed 4-0 at Leeds last week.

And Oxford boss Wilder said: “It’s a different situation to what we’ve had for a long while in that we go into it as the underdogs.

“But somewhere in the FA Cup there’ll be a shock – and I’m sure we can cause one.

“The players are buoyant, and they should be because they’ve produced performances, they’re winning, and I’m expecting them to put on a good show.

“We’re playing opposition from two leagues above, so it’s up to our players to raise their game.

“We’re going to have to play well, no doubt about it.

“If we have an off day, or any sort of average day, we’re out of the Cup.

“If we have a good day and the opposition don’t, then we have a chance of getting a result.”

Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton says his club’s visit to Oxford brings back “the magic” of the FA Cup.

Skiverton feels that the Kassam Stadium’s excellent playing surface makes it a less daunting prospect for his players than had they been drawn away to most other non-League clubs.

He said: “I think it is a great game for us.

“We could have gone away on a difficult pitch and I know that Oxford have got great facilities.

“Do not get me wrong, it will be a tough game, but it is one that we think is winnable.”
