Tadmarton Heath were crowned Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League Section 1 champions after a dramatic final day.
They had trailed The Oxfordshire by half a point going into the final round of matches. But Tadmarton’s 3-0 victory over Burford and their rivals’ 2-1 defeat at Frilford Heath turned the tide.
Ian Manning and Liam Robinson secured Tadmarton a comfortable 4&3 win in the opening clash against Burford, while Owen King and Guy Sambrook took match two 2&1.
Spencer Hallam and Chris Lowe birdied holes 15 and 17 to recover from one down and secure the whitewash, which relegated Burford.
Ashley Walton and Ben Paterson, plus Paul Richardson and Paul Dolton bagged Frilford’s victories at home to The Oxfordshire, for whom Andy Stubbs and Steve Warren were 7&6 winners.
Oxford City finished bottom despite winning their first match of the campaign – a 2-1 success against Magnolia Park.
Section 2 champions Chipping Norton ended Studley Wood’s promotion hopes with a 2½-½ success – and that was despite Mark Stanton and Neil Thornton blowing a four-hole lead after five holes to draw.
North Oxford were hammered 3-0 by Ellesborough, who secured the second promotion spot, but stayed up at Shrivenham Park’s expense thanks to a better head-to-head record.
