Tommy Chester aced the par-four fourth hole at Shrivenham Park for the second time, but could not save the hosts from the drop in the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League.
The 41-year-old five-handicapper used a driver to conquer the 258-yard hole in Shrivenham Park’s 2-1 defeat to Bicester, who are also relegated from Section 2.
“There was a nice little fade around the trees,” said Chester, who with Adrian Prestoe halved his match.
“After hitting the shot, I said that looks like a good one.
“As we were playing foursomes, the others had moved on to spot the balls.
“They were saying that it had gone in the hole, but I couldn’t see from the tee.”
After removing his ball from the hole, Chester said: “I felt great, but it was not the first time I had done it.”
Not only was this a repeat on Shrivenham Park’s fourth hole, but Chester has bagged five other aces in his career.
“I work there one day a week as a greenkeeper, so I have a little bit of local knowledge,” added Chester.
GEORGE Kerr was crowned Bicester’s junior champion after defeating Jamie Patmore by three strokes.
THERE was a record winning score of 84 stableford points in the Five Star Masters at Huntercombe.
Chris Nash, Barry Yates and Alastair Thom secured top prize in the charity series’ sixth event of 2009.
Roger Rhymes, Tich Gardiner and Spatty Powell took second on 82, ahead of Jim Elkins, Paul Bence and Will Montgomery.
