Oxford Harlequins director of rugby John Brodley was delighted with his team’s clinical display against Chinnor.
He said: “I thought we converted our chances, which weren’t very many, really well.
“Chinnor came back. There was no doubt about it.
“We defended well, but they were making headway in their scrummaging and driving maul.
“What we have got in our side are individuals who can score out of nothing, which was shown at the end.
“They had a couple of penalty opportunities where they kicked for goal, which I was quite pleased about.
“If they had really wanted the win, then maybe they could have gone for the corner.
“Overall, I’m really pleased. We wanted to attack around outside centre.
“We had to move the ball away from their forwards and that was our best chance of winning.
“We didn’t have as many chances as I was hoping for.
“I thought our fly half, Jeff Stewart, was man-of-the-match by a long way, not only because of his kicks, but the way he controlled the game.”
Chinnor head coach Jason Bowers said: “Credit to Oxford Harlequins, they stuck to their game plan and were worthy winners.
“We didn’t play well for 20 minutes and gave ourselves a 19-point deficit.
“We made mistakes from poor kicks from players who don’t normally make mistakes.
“I thought our forwards were on top all day. The scrum and line-outs were really good.
“At 22-18, we backed ourselves to win, but they finished the game well.
“Now we have a big mountain to climb if we want to do well in this league.”
