Berinsfield's Joe Bolton was in dynamic form at Luton as he romped to victory in the Home Counties Class A 66 kg final of this year’s ABA Junior Novice championships.
The 15-year-old contender took charge of his clash with Sandy ABC rival Liam Dunne from the bell, getting behind the jab to control the ring.
Bolton always dictated the pace – both going forwards and on the counter – and was quicker to the punch.
Dunne was rocked by three right hands towards the end, but managed to remain upright.
There was disappointment for Windrush Valley’s Brendan Chalk in the next age group after his encounter with South Oxhey’s Matt Deamer.
The 16-year-old Witney boxer battled bravely, but could not match the accuracy of his Hertfordshire opponent to lose the Class B 66 kg encounter on points.
Bolton is now through to the quarter-finals of the competition at Bristol tomorrow where the Home Counties champions tackle their West Country counterparts.
He will be joined by Blackbird Leys southpaw Les Hill, who competes in the Class B (16 years) featherweight division after outpointing Marlow’s Waqas Farid in Reading the previous week.
