IT was 25 years ago on Saturday, on Hallowe’en 1984, that Oxford beat Arsenal 3-2 at the Manor after David Langan’s 30-yarder slipped through the hands of Pat Jennings.
That’s one of the joys of Martin Brodetsky’s new book Oxford United On This Day (pictured left). For every day, there’s a special piece of Oxford United history. It’s on sale now, priced £9.99.
CHRIS Wilder believes the one-year contract young Aaron Woodley has signed should act as a great spur to United’s other youth-team players.
“It’s a sign that we do look to move these players forward.
“And it’s a great example to the others to say that, while we do need to get players that have experience of this league, we’re a club looking to develop our own young players as well.
“And it’s a recognition of a decent start by Aaron.
“Having already been involved at senior level, we can hopefully move him on a little bit quicker.”
