Frilford Heath reached the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League’s Knockout Cup final and maintained their slim Section 1 title hopes with a weekend double.
A 2-1 victory over Brailes at Southfield saw 2008 runners-up Frilford set up a final clash with Chipping Norton at Mentmore on November 7.
Frilford also defeated relegation candidates Burford 3-0 at home in the league.
They will leapfrog leaders The Oxfordshire if they can repeat that scoreline on Saturday, but Tadmarton Heath, who visit Oxford City, are just half a point off the top.
Witney Lakes went top of Section 4 with one game to play after beating Hadden Hill 2-1.
Richard Connor and Ollie Tite were Witney’s stand-out performers with a 6&5 thrashing of Mick Partridge and Paul Chana.
THREE Oxfordshire golfers celebrated holes-in-one during club competitions.
Clarrie Haynes aced the par-three 15th during Chipping Norton’s annual Senior Ladies and Gents Greensomes, while Clive Dickenson and Celia Harker both achieved the feat at Kirtlington.
HADDEN Hill are hosting a charity day in aid of Style Acre, which supports adults with learning disabilities, on Friday, November 27.
Entry for a team of four costs £92 and includes coffee, and bacon baps, plus a hot one-course meal. For details, see www.haddenhillgolf.co.uk.
