Windrush Valley’s Brendan Chalk, 16, tackles Matt Deamer from South Oxhey, in his bid to claim the Home Counties title at Luton tonight.
Chalk powered his way into the final with a confident points win over Tom Murray in the Class B 66kg junior novices semi-final at Reading.
He repeatedly evaded the jab of his taller MK Victors ABC’s rival, catching him with rights to both head and body.
Three solid rights rocked Murray to prompt a standing count at the end of the second round before the bell sounded to end his misery.
But 16-year-old light flyweight southpaw Sam Guillois, from the same Witney gym as Chalk, lacked the accuracy of St Albans rival John Nevin and lost on points.
In the same age group, Blackbird Leys southpaw Les Hill has already claimed the featherweight title after proving more determined than Waqas Farid.
Berinsfield’s Josh Lock lost his Class A lightweight clash with Cheshunt’s Brian McDonagh.
He allowed the southpaw to boss the first two sessions and a late rally was not enough to reverse the tide.
Berinsfield’s Joe Bolton had a bye in the first round and now faces Liam Dunne (Sandy ABC) in the Class B final tonight Banbury’s Zhair Zhbair used his extra inches to start well in his Class A featherweight clash with Sajid Arif.
But the extra power of his Luton rival came to the fore in the final stages, imposing two standing counts on his way to victory.
