Abingdon RBL A recorded a 5-1 win against Witney A and sit at the top of Premier & Division 1 of the Gentworks Oxford & District League, writes David White.
Dave Noake defeated Colin Cutler in the opening frames before Kev Higgs edged out Colin Adams to give Abingdon an unassailable 4-0 lead.
Riley B also recorded a 5-1 success, defeating Oracle A. Malcolm Bough beat Frankie Merola in two hard-fought games.
Adam Brown made it 4-0 thanks to an easy win against Nino Merola, making break of 40 in the fourth frame.
League newcomers Thame A drew with Witney C . Thame’s Brian Elves made clearances of 27 and 34 to steal both of his frames against Julian Marks, who made a break of 30 in the second frame.
Steve Mill pipped Darren Howard in two more close frames to level the match.
Ross Turner regained the lead for Thame when he beat Clive Burnet , but a break of 28 helped Clive Burnet win the final frame.
New Club B powered their way to a 6-0 win against Riley E in Division 2 thanks to Alan King, Paul Moss and Nigel Bossom, who had a break of 34.
Highfield A top of the table following a 4-2 win at Riley D, who have now lost their opening three matches. Kevin Leach was Highfield’s match winner, beating Bob Hayward in the last two frames.
Headington RBL A went to the top of Division 3 after thra-shing East Oxford Con A 6-0.
