An Oxford City & County rink reached the last eight of the Warner Leisure Hotels Champion of Champions competition at Lakeside Village Resort, Hayling Island.
Ray Gaskill’s side of Pat Rist, Susan Mayo and Carol Gaskins bowed out 16-4 to England international Mick Sharpe’s rink, from Kingsthorpe, Northampton, in the quarter-finals.
The national finals were the the culmination of a year-round competition, which is open to winners of bowls breaks held at Warner Leisure Hotels’ four indoor centres at Bembridge, Isle of Wight, Bodelwyddan Castle, North Wales, Gunton Hall, Lowestoft and Lakeside Village Resort.
The title went to Grantham’s Nick Orrey’s rink, who beat Ron Chatfield’s Essex and County four 11-6 in the final.
