Three Oxfordshire golfers will next week bid to play against a team of former Ryder, Solheim and Walker Cup players at Celtic Manor.
Andy Jennings (The Wychwood), Oliver Ebsworth (Burford) and Kate Evans (Frilford Heath) have qualified for the Single Figure Golfer (SFG) Challenge Tour final from October 26-28.
Eight-handicapper Jennings, Ebsworth, who plays off six, and Evans (five) are among 84 finalists playing The Montgomerie Course.
The top ten players from Monday will stay on for two further days and form a team captained by former Walker Cup skipper Peter McEvoy.
Their opponents in a matchplay contest will include Gordon Brand junior, Paul Way, Philip Walton, Peter Baker and Steven Richardson.
LORETTA Tonna did the double in the Oxfordshire Ladies’ seniors event at Kirtlington.
The Studley Wood member scored 43 stableford points to win the Seniors Cup and the Crawley Cup for best Bronze Division player.
Studley’s Jackie Wilson, who plays off 25, finished second on 38, with Tricia Rawlings, a 19-handicapper from Oxford Ladies, third on 37.
Frilford Heath’s Margaret Chaundy was fourth, with Gill Buck edging out Frilford clubmate Colleen Madge for fifth on countback.
Patricia Meyer (Studley) had the best front nine with 21 points, while Christine Jones pipped fellow Frilford member Nicola Barclay-Watt for the back nine on countback.
JUSTINE Voss won Oxfordshire Ladies’ inaugural Lucy Davies Trophy after defeating Kate Evans in the final.
Voss, a four-handicapper from Henley, saw off Evans (Frilford) 3&2 in a high-standard contest at Huntercombe.
STUDLEY Wood claimed the BB&O Hillman Trophy after defeating Calcott Park in the final on Frilford Heath’s Green Course.
OXFORD City have been relegated from Section 1 of the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League after losing their ninth match in a row.
