Joe Hartley hit a hat-trick as Vale of White Horse Under 11s made it two wins from as many starts in the County League with a 5-2 home victory over St Albans.

Hartley fired Vale into a 16th minute lead in the clash at Oxford Brookes Westminster Institute of Education.

Aaron Jacobs equalised for St Albans, before Hartley restored their lead with his second before the break.

Harry Hawks hauled St Albans level in the second half, but a three-goal burst in the space of four minutes clinched victory for Vale.

Hartley nipped in to complete his hat-trick, before Lee Davis and Sam Fletcher netted to wrap up the points.

Vale had opened their programme wtih an excellent 3-1 win at Woking.

Sam Hennerberg gave Woking the lead, but James Morrell equalised and second-half goals from Fletcher and Davis saw Vale triumph.

l ALEX Thomas starred with a second-half hat-trick as Vale of White Horse Under 13s ran out 4-0 winners over Banbury & District in a friendly at Milton United.

Matthew Taylor’s 30-yard screamer gave Vale a half-time lead, before Thomas took centre stage after the break.

He opened his tally from close range, volleyed a cracking second and then danced through the middle to side-foot home his third.

A MIX-UP at the English Schools’ FA led to Banbury & District being awarded victory over Luton in the ESFA Under 15 Trophy second round – even though they haven’t got a side this season.

Banbury were put down as 1-0 winners on the ESFA website, as reported in last week’s Goals on Wednesday.

But on further investigation it transpired they were awarded the tie after Luton conceded the match because they were unable to raise a side.

Unfortunately, the ESFA weren’t aware that Banbury also don’t have a team this season.
