Last Sunday 42 anglers pegged at Medley and Folly, practising for tomorrow’s Winter League.
With the Thames gin-clear and lacking flow, Medley produced the winner, but fished extremely hard, with 3.12.0 the second-best weight on the 21 pegs.
The Folly stretch, being deeper and narrower, fished better.
Pegged just below the Perch at Medley, Darren Wright (Sensas A4) weighed in a winning 23.13.0, comprising six chub, two on the chop on the pole and four on waggler and maggot.
Henry Golas (Fox Match Isis) was pegged on Folly at the bottom of the straight below Osney Lock where Potts Stream enters. He weighed in roach and perch for a second-placed 22.5.0.
An all-roach net of 14.7.0 on waggler and maggot gave Ian Madden (Fox Match Isis) third. He was pegged at Coca-Cola Bay.
