Ami Measor recorded the best result of her fledgling career by finishing third aboard Belle Fleur at the Horse of the Year Show at the NEC, Birmingham.
Competing in the BSJA Amateur Classic Championship, the 22-year-old from Steventon, near Didcot, was one of just four riders in a field of 22 to produce two clear rounds.
A faultless display aboard the eight-year-old mare from Jane Dexter’s Blewbury Riding Stables put Measor into the jump off along with ten other riders.
She then went clear again, clocking 36.67secs to take the lead only to be pipped by two other riders.
Measor was thrilled to claim a top-three spot especially, after a prominent showing at the British Open Amateur Championship in April.
She said: “It was amazing really because qualifying for the British Open and coming sixth, and then qualifying for the Horse of the Year Show is hard for any horse to do.
“I was just looking to go clear in the first round, to be honest.”
Now Measor is looking to build on her success next season when she will also be competing on the six-year-olds Diamond Touch II, who like Belle Fleur is owned by Dexter, and her own Plucain.
“I want to qualify for the Foxhunters next year – probably with one of the other two,” she added.
