Abingdon Vale pipped Bicester by two points to win the first round of the Arena National League at Coventry.
It was an excellent display from Vale’s small team, who secured 16 victories.
Three came from Olivia Law, who won the ladies open 200m individual medley plus the 15 & under 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle.
Ella Kennedy (11 & under 50m backstroke) and Olivia Basterfield (15 & under 100m backstroke) also won.
Abingdon’s boys winners were Michael Fabes (11 & under 50m backstroke & 50m breaststroke), Luke Teh (13 & under 100m breaststroke), Niall O'Leary (13 & under 100m backstroke), Oliver Baboolal (13 & under 100m butterfly) and Harry Basterfield (13 & under 100m freestyle).
Other wins came in relays.
Result: 1 Abingdon Vale 201pts, 2 Bicester 199, 3 Orion 188, 4 City of Coventry C 172, 5 Fox Hollies 172, 6 Oldbury 111.
Witney took third place in their opening round at Bromsgrove.
Nathan Harkin was in sparkling form, winning in the 15 & under backstroke and freestyle.
The boys’ 15 & under relay team continued their unbeaten record this year, taking victories in both their events, through Harkin, Adam Colling, Callum McLean and Conor Taylor.
For the girls, Katy Hoare recorded a personal best in the 15 & under backstroke, while Colling achieved a new best for the 100m butterfly.
