Division 1 leaders Ashton continued their good start to the Oxford & District League season, defeating CCC A 2-1 in a close encounter.
Pete Fenn (+50) squeezed past Arthur Coakley (+90) 150-148 in the opening game to put Ashton into the lead.
John Street (+50) then pipped Terry Cook (+20) by a single point 200-199 to secure the match.
Dick Hashman (+10) secured Ashton’s consolation point, as he compiled breaks of 33, 31, 27 and 23 to beat Terry Chambers (scratch) 200-124.
Thame defeated Eynsham 2-1. Tom Fletcher (+90) beat Dean Watson (+50) 150-97 to give them the lead.
Alan Rutson (+100) just got the better of Mick McCluskey (+90) 150-147 to make it 2-0, before Roy Gascoyne (+100) defeated Peter Hawkes (+135) 100-60 to earn Eynsham a point.
HCC A surprised defending champions Riley A with a 2-1 victory.
Ghassan Al-Murani (+90) lowered the colours of Mal-colm Bough (+20) 200-147 inflicting a rare defeat on Bough – who lost only twice last season.
Doug House (+30) made it 2-0 as breaks of 29 and 27 helped him to a comfortable 200-143 win over Allan Cope-lin (+90).
Gary Bough (+70) earned Riley’s point, beating John Williams (+70) 150-125.
