Hooker Mark Benstead scored 20 points as Oxford Cavaliers beat Brookes Bulls 48-14 at Stratfield Brake.
Benstead, who is known as Benny and was making his first start in the No 9 shirt, was the star of the show in the opening game of a three-match series billed as the rugby league ‘Battle of Oxford’.
Cavaliers had no idea of the Oxford Brookes University club’s standard, but it made for a competitive match.
John Connaughton and John Conway were among Cavaliers’ other try scorers.
