A nasty head injury caused Oxford Hawks’ eagerly-awaited South Clubs' League Division 1 derby against Rover Oxford at Iffley Road to be abandoned with five minutes to go.
Hawks were leading 4-1 and the result will be allowed to stand.
The ball was accidentally struck into the face of Hawks’ Marie Warwick by a clearance from her own keeper.
The unfortunate Warwick needed five stitches, but was allowed home from hospital at midnight.
When the action on the field began, Beth Warne responded quickly to the keeper's weak clearance to flick the ball into the back of the goal from close range to put Hawks in front.
They doubled the lead after Zoe Salter scored from a goalmouth scramble at the start of the second half.
Rover responded with a quick break down the right wing, and the ball was crossed for Bex Strange to score But the visitors won a short corner after good attacking play from Salter and Fiona Walton, and Warwick struck the ball beautifully to make it 3-1.
Minutes later, another short corner was saved, but the rebound was well picked up by the Hawks' forwards. Walton's inital shot was saved but Fogden pounced to strike a fourth.
Oxford University were beaten 3-1 at Wimbledon in Division 2.
And in Division 3A, City of Oxford showed no mercy as they trounced Oxford Hawks 2nd 5-0.
Kirsty Brammer notched a brace, with Anna Nicholson, Rachel Stokes and Rachel Lammey also on target.
Natasha Nunneley hit a hat-trick as Banbury won 4-1 at newly-promoted Hampstead & Westminster, who opened the scoring within 60 seconds.
Banbury equalised moments before half-time as Nunneley despatched a penalty corner. Mel Wilkinson scored from the edge of the D, before Nunneley converted a short corner, and then rounded the keeper to complete her treble. West Witney were unable to follow up their 3-2 victory at Sonning as they lost 4-2 at home to West Hampstead.
