Wantage were unable to hang on to a first-half lead and bowed out in Saturday’s first round tie in the FA Calsberg Vase.
In the first 30 minutes, Longwell Green created several half chances as the Wantage back -line struggled to clear in the blustery conditions On the half-hour, Wantage worked the ball in from the right wing, in a slick move involving Tom Austin and Ellis Langford.
The ball was slipped to Sean McKeon, who squeezed the ball past keeper Mark Britton from the edge of the box.
Before half-time Mckeon and Austin missed golden chances to double Wantage’s advantage.
However, in the 65th minute, the home side equalised when Wantage keeper Darryl Simms skied a clearance to Chris Churchill, who headed the ball over the advancing Simms into the net.
The final 20 minutes were frenetic. Austin drew a great save from Britton.
But in the 81st minute, Neil Rosslee slipped through Wantage’s offside trap to slide in the winning goal .
Late on, Longwell defender Mark Summers was sent off after pulling back substitute Richie Guy as he closed in on goal.

Carterton 1 (Duerden 25)
Carterton booked their place in the next round thanks to a goal from Michael Duerden midway through the first half.
