Bashley 3 (Maxwell 13, Gamble 72, 83)
Didcot Tn 2 (Bridges 90+2 Sampson 90+4
A late Didcot fightback was not enough to prevent the Railwaymen’s sixth Premier Division defeat of the season at high-flying Bashley in the Zamaretto Southern league.
The hosts went in front when Joe Maxwell turned and hammered a shot past Matt Trott.
Bashley keeper David Elm made great saves from Josh Dutton-Black and Michael Bartley to keep them ahead at half-time.
Mark Gamble appeared to have settled the match with a left-footed drive and then a header from Ryan Hill’s corner made it 3-0 with seven minutes left.
The action was not over though. Gamble then had a penalty saved by Trott, after a foul on Chris Mason.
There was still time for Didcot to give Bashley a late scare.
First, a Dutton-Black cross was headed home by sub Liam Hope two minutes into added time, and then two minutes later, a ball from the left was turned in by Ian Sampson
Didcot Town: Trott, Castello (Williams 73), Hopkins, Williams, Stanley, Heapy, Sampson, Jack (Bridges 73), Bartley, Draycott (Hope 83), Dutton-Black. Subs not used Brown, Harper.
Attendance: 322.
