North Leigh 2 (Dodds 75, Helby 80)
Burnham 3 (Saunders pen 48, pen 90, Bird 52)
North Leigh’s recovery from two goals down and hopes of a replay were ended by a controversial stoppage-time penalty in a dramatic Carlsbery FA Trophy preliminary round tie.
Burnham took the lead after Karl Dodds was yellow-carded for his pull on Dean Papali, and Robbie Saunders converted from the spot.
Burnham made it 2-0 when an unmarked Ryan Bird headed home from Stuart Swift’s free-kick North Leigh’s fight-back began when Chris Allen corner fell to Dodds, whose shot found the top corner.
The Yellows made it 2-2 as another Allen corner was headed home by Andrew Helby.
With a replay looking likely, the referee deemed Allen’s elbow to have been deliberate handball, and Saunders converted his second penalty and fire Burnham through.
