Didcot Town boss Stuart Peace will be without the services of key midfielder James Mortimer-Jones for several weeks with a knee problem.

The former North Leigh and Carterton player suffered ligament damage in last weekend’s shock FA Cup defeat by Paulton Rovers.

“It sounds like he tweaked a knee ligament, but we won’t know until he has a scan,” said Peace, who takes his Premier Division team to form side Bashley on Saturday.

“If it is that then he will be out for several weeks. He did it during the Paulton game, which is why he had to come off.

“It’s a blow because he’s one of the players that drives us forward.

“But our squad should be strong enough to cope and now it’s up to the players to prove it.”

He added: “I’m hoping Saturday’s result was a one-off because we had been playing well. I think maybe a bit of complacency crept in, so we have to make sure we get back on track against Bashley, though it will be tough.”

Matty Jack returns to the side.

Banbury United will be without winger Jon Gardner (knee) when they host Halesowen Town looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven matches.

They will also be without Steve Davis, who has decided to return to Oxford City.

Banbury manager Billy Jeffrey said: “It’s disappointing to see him go because I rate him highly.

“I find it odd because City released him after telling him he had no future at the club.

“But if it doesn’t work out we would take him back straightaway.”

Jeffrey added: “I know Halesowen are in administration, but we have to ignore that. They’ve got some decent players including Stefan Moore who was at Villa, so they will be tough.”

Oxford City host boss Mike Ford’s former club Bedford Town at Court Place Farm.

City are unbeaten in their last seven league and cup games.

Unchanged Abingdon United hope to make it third time lucky at Cirencester Town in Division 1 South & West.

They bowed out of the FA Cup after their second qualifying-round replay defeat in Cirencester.

Assistant boss Richard Peirson said: “That was our worst performance of the season by far. This is a good chance to put things right.”
