Aaron Woodley has been told to savour the moment after his brief taste of the limelight this week.
The 16-year-old from Abingdon, who came off the bench for the last couple of minutes against Crawley, returns to playing for the youth team against Cheltenham tomorrow in the last round of Youth Alliance Cup games.
“Aaron won his first header against a lad who’s about 6ft 5in,” Wilder said after the Crawley game.
“I said savour the moment. He’s back with the youth team on Saturday, but that’s the way it is.
“The players know what a decent player he is. But we will ensure keeps his feet on the ground, because we’ve got good staff here in the youth development department and with Mickey (Lewis).”
Woodley himself said it was a privilege just to be on the bench.
The young striker has already scored for United – at Swindon – in the cup, which is on a round-robin basis.
Les Taylor’s team have qualified, having won two and drawn one so far.
