OXFORD City clinched the vet 60 title in the Southern Road Relays at Aldershot for a fifth year running.
City were in third place going into the fourth and final leg, but Roy Treadwell ran the fastest time in his age group to seal victory by more than two minutes from Herts Phoenix.
John Exley got City off to a strong start with a time of 22mins 49secs on the 6km course before handing over to Dickie Langton (26.56) and Gareth Jones (24.09).
Treadwell was always confident of overhauling a 30 second gap on the final leg and stormed home in 22.31.
Exley clocked the third fastest vet 60 time, while Jones was ninth in the individual rankings.
City’s seniors finished a mediocre 54th in their six-leg event, with Aaron Burgess (20.26) their fastest runner.
There was some local success, however, as Mathew Ashton, from Witney, was part of the winning Aldershot, Farnham & District team.
City’s under 13 girls finished sixth in a field of 53 on a 2.3km course.
The team consisted of Storm Sunderland, Elisha Evans and Beth Hawtin, who ran the 11th fastest leg of the day in a time of 8.34.
The under 15 girls’ were seventh out of 58 teams over 3km.
Imogen Kempton ran the 17th fastest leg in her age group, clocking 11.03.
Lauren Hawtin and Rebecca Byren made up the trio.
Abingdon Amblers finished 46th.
In the under 17 women’s relay, run over 3km, Melissa Hawtin clocked the ninth quickest time in 10.37 as she helped her team to 24th, alongside Bethany Florey and Ellie Burns.
Elsewhere, the under 15 boys (Josh Tack, Ben Upjohn, Owen Huxley and Matthieu Marshall) were 27th, while the under 17 men (Harry Robertson, James Cody, Ryan Meredith and Sam Kelly) finished 33rd, while Abingdon Amblers were 37th.
