UNDER 17 starlet Jackson Curtis was awarded the Bicester’s athlete of the year award at their annual presentation night.
Curtis had a fantastic year, winning bronze in the English Schools AA championships in the javelin and moving up to ninth in the UK rankings.
The under 17 field performer of the year honour was shared between Curtis and James Wright in the awards, held at Bicester Rugby Club.
Wright had an outstanding summer, producing a triple jump in excess of 14 metres, and also bagged silver in the English Schools Championship.
l TWO days later, Curtis brothers, Jackson and Freddie, were in top form at the Biggleswade Open.
Jackson threw 52.52m to win the under 17 boys javelin with 52.52m.
Remarkably, younger brother Freddie trumped the throw in the under 15 boys’ javelin with a new club record of 55.07m.
Freddie also won the high jump with a personal best of 1.65m.
Elsewhere, James Wright produced his third longest jump of the summer (6.60m) to see off the opposition.
Wright produced another victory in the triple jump with a huge leap of 13.91m.
Redford Curtis completed a good day for Bicester by winning the under 13 boys’ discus with 26.40m – adding 13cm to his existing club record.
He also secured victory in the shot (9.51m) and javelin (38.08m).
