Oxford City Stars were crashed to an 11-2 defeat against Invicta Dynamos in Sunday’s Division 1 clash.
Without captain Darren Elliott and forward Nick Oliver, stand-in captain Grant Bailey netted both Stars goals.
Having lost to the same opponents in the opening game of the campaign, Stars fell behind in the third minute when they conceded a short-handed goal, and from then on, the writing was on the wall.
The game did see some brief moments of promise for Oxford, but the puck just did not run for them.
In contrast, the Kent side seemed to find the net with every attack as they cruised to victory.
In a niggly encounter, tempers boiled over in the final period when defenceman Richard Wojciak clashed with Invicta’s Peter Vaisanen, which sparked a brawl.
Oxford will be hoping to put the result to the back of their minds as they prepare for the home game this Sunday against title hopefuls Isle of Wight Raiders at Oxpens Road.
