North Leigh 1 (McCabe 38)

Bedfont Green 4 (Samuel 10, 24, Gell 30, Henry 45)

North Leigh lost their 100 per cent home record as high-flying Bedfont Green secured a convincing victory at Eynsham Park in Division 1 South & West on Saturday in the Zamaretto Southern League.

The victory was largely down to an inspired first-half performance from livewire Chris Henry, who made three and then scored himself on the stroke of half-time.

Henry’s jinking run and pull-back from the bye-line found Aaron Samuel, who drilled lost past Sam Warrell to open the scoring.

Another penetrating Henry run and cross left Samuel unmarked at the far post to double Bedfont’s lead midway through the half.

Stuart Hole headed over from a Chris Allen cross, but Bedford went three goals ahead on the half-hour as Henry’s deep cross was returned into the box by Gavin Hart for Chris Gell to strike a low shot into the bottom corner.

Matty Taylor and Hole both had shots parried, before North Leigh reduced the arrears when another Allen cross was headed in off the far post by Andy McCabe.

But on the stroke of half-time, Samuel turned provider to cross for Henry to head home No 4.

With little sign of a second-half comeback, boss Mark Gee made a double change, and with his first touch, substitute Alfie Saunders struck the bar from 20 yards, while at the other end, Warrell tipped a Samuel shot around a post.

North Leigh: Warrell, Posey, Curtin, Helby (Futcher 60), Huxley, Dodds, Wyatt (Saunders 60), Hole, Taylor, McCabe (Hodler 85), Allen.
