United's amazing run of 15 away games without defeat, which ended at Mansfield on Tuesday, was another club record.
The U’s had already set one mark last weekend with six successive clean sheets, and extended the number of minutes without conceding to 560 until the Stags’ midfielder Ryan Williams found the net.
It was the first time the U’s had lost on their travels since Boxing Day 2008, when they lost at Salisbury.
Itcomfortably beat the 12-game unbeaten run in 1984.
That sequence, when Jim Smith was boss, encompassed the final nine games of the 1983-4 season, when Oxford won the Division Three Championship, and the opening three of the 1984-5 season.
It was ended by a very controversial 1-0 defeat at Manchester City, but United still went on to win the Division 2 Championship that season.
This 2009 run was remarkable for its number of wins.
Fifteen games . . . ten wins and five draws, which has brought 35 points, championship form even when it’s at home, let alone away.
Wilder said: “I’ve been at the football club for nine, nearly ten months now, and we don’t like losing, that’s plain to see – whether it’s home or away.
“But to suffer our first away defeat in nine months is some going, some record.”
