Chinnor head coach Jason Bowers is under no illusions as to the threat posed by tomorrow’s National 3 South West opponents Taunton.

The Somerset side, who won all 22 matches in securing promotion last season, have a 100 per cent record this campaign and thrashed Chippenham 88-0 last time out.

But this should be the toughest league test they have faced in that period.

Bowers said: “Any side that has been unbeaten for as long as this is going to be a decent outfit.

“They have recruited well over the summer with players of National League experience, but they have a fair journey on Saturday.”

Chinnor lost 23-20 at Redingensians last week after scraping wins in their first two matches.

Bowers said: “After a week in training and looking at the DVD we know where we didn’t play to our game plan last week.

“We’ve got to make sure we don’t do that again.

“But the first 25 minutes were some of the best we had played in ten games and we want more of that.

“Redingensians were the better side last week, but Taunton will be a different prospect.”

Prop Joe Pickett could make his debut as Ian Stock is an injury doubt.

Wing Pip Seymour returns after a shoulder problem, but lock Matt Hutchings and centre Ben Hewitt are still out.

Teenager Mario Da Silva makes his Oxford Harlequins debut on the wing at home to Maidenhead.

The Academy star replaces Xavier Andre (broken nose), while Mark Forth returns at fly half.

Hugh Jones is unavailable, so Andy Noyce moves to full back.

Quins director of rugby John Brodley said: “We are looking to put as much pressure as possible on Maidenhead early on.

“They suffered a 55-point defeat at home last week, so may be vulnerable.”

Quins, however, put in a much better display to beat Weston-Super-Mare 49-17.

Brodley said: “We started really well and sustained it well into the second half.”

Henley Hawks have a week off in National 2 South as the division has only 13 teams.

Wallingford will be without scrum half Derek Viljoen when they host Salisbury in South West 1 East.

Viljoen, who went off with a rib injury last week, is replaced by Matt Dawes.

Centre Pete Holton and fly half Pete Strang also return.

Coach Chris Norrington said: “We didn’t really have a regular fly half last week, which was OK until we lost Derek as well!

“You need to win at home. Everyone knows that.

“Hopefully we can bounce back after losing last week.”

Gosford All Blacks field an experimental pack at home to local rivals Oxford in the BB&O Premier Division.

They bring in young hooker Tom Heydon and lock Chris Sandam for their debuts after promising displays in the seconds.

Sandam is joined at lock by Liam Beesley, who moves up from No 8, while Harry Sutton returns at inside centre.

Gosford are inviting new players to join them for training on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9pm at Stratfield Brake, Kidlington.
