Banbury were knocked out in the first round of the Men's EH Cup, losing 4-3 on penalty flicks to Tulse Hill & Dulwich after a 1-1 draw.

Tyson Nunneley scored for Banbury, but missed flicks from Brooker and Richard Foreman cost them dearly.

Meanwhile, Oxford Hawks warmed up for the new season with a 2-1 friendly win over Bath Buccaneers.

Fred Coppin got Hawks’ opener and Rupert Barker notched the second.

Banbury’s pre-season continued in fine fashion as they chalked up a 4-1 win at City of Peterborough, who last season were playing in the National League.

Banbury went behind inside 45 seconds when Peterborough capitalised on a defensive mistake.

It could have been worse, but once again former French international goalkeeper Chris Boyle was in fine form.

From a Boyle save, Banbury broke quickly and George Brooker slammed the ball inside the keeper’s near post to level the scores.

In the second half, Banbury got on top, and Brooker’s shot beat both the keeper and the defender on the line before Adrian Simons got two more.

Boyle saved a penalty flick.

Newly-promoted Wallingford followed up their 6-1 win at Abingdon with a 3-2 victory at Reading 2A.

Matt Clamp’s cross was deflected in for their first goal, and Alun Lloyd and Tim Chamberlain scored.
