Henley Hawks broke their duck in National 2 South with a 26-14 victory over Barnes at Dry Leas which saw 15 minutes of stoppage time.
Five players had to leave the field with blood injuries, including Henley skipper Matt Payne following an 68th-minute incident in which Barnes hooker Matt Grove was red-carded.
Hawks led 21-14 by this time and secured a bonus point with wing Tommy Haynes’s last-minute try.
Full back Warren Gower opened the scoring for Barnes with a try on 12 minutes, which he also converted.
Returning full back Ralph Smith gave Henley extra cutting edge and it was his run that set up a try for centre Neil Baggett, fly half Paul Trendell converting.
Hawks saw centre Danny Wells limp off with an ankle injury just before half-time.
Henley entered the break 14-7 up after flanker Alan Blewitt had forced his way over and Trendell converted.
But soon afterwards, Barnes fly half Gareth Williams-Davies latched on to his own grubber kick to score and Gower added the conversion.
Henley’s pack gained control and lock Tom Stradwick broke form their line-out to score, Trendell converting.
Haynes’s try capped a good day for the hosts, who now have a week off following Mounts Bay’s withdrawal from the league this summer.
