Banbury and Oxfordshire all-rounder Josh Megson has been rewarded for a string of fine displays with a call-up to the South and West regional Under 15 team to tour the West Indies.
Megson, 14, impressed while playing for the region earlier in the season, taking 2-14 and scoring 34 in a game against Wales at King’s College, Taunton.
The tour, which will take place in April, involves ten games in 16 days in Barbados, Trinidad and Guyana.
One of the games in Barbados will take place under the lights at the world famous Kensington Oval.
Megson, who attends Warriner School in Banbury had a successful season with the ball, taking 17 wickets for Oxfordshire’s Under 14 side.
He also forced his way into Banbury’s 2nd XI towards the end of the season, returning figures of 3-11 in a match against Bourton Vale in Division 2 of The Oxford Times Cherwell League.
Megson has secured a kit sponsorship deal with the Oxford-based company On Hand Sports, who will supply all of his kit for the Caribbean trip.
l OXFORD landed the Oxfordshire Under 15 title after a 54-run victory over Aston Rowant in the delayed final at Tiddington.
Oxford won the toss and elected to bat, reaching 97-4 from their 16 overs.
Eleanor Milward top-scored with 24, while Caitie Burton and Emelia Bartram both chipped in with 15.
In reply, Rowant were never really in the hunt as they were bowled out for just 43, including no few than six run outs.
RESULT Oxford 97-4 (E Milward 24, C Burton 15, E Bartram 15no, O Barlow 2-12), Aston Rowant 43.
