Oxford City & County A lifted the Oxford & District League Cup for the first time with an emphatic 86-48 victory over Kidlington in the final played under the Hanborough floodlights.
Spurred on by their vocal supporters, favourites City & County A, from Division 1, won on three of the four rinks to triumph in the competition sponsored by S&J Timms Cleaning Services and Rub A Dub Dub Laundrette.
Kidlington, who gained promotion as Division 3 runners-up, were still in close contention after nine ends.
But Chris Earl, Ray Gaskins and Alan Ley’s City & County rinks piled on the points in the second half of the match to clinch victory.
Kidlington captain David Snell had the consolation of a 16-14 win over skip Mike Petersen.
League chairman Sammy Timms praised both sides for the spirit the final was played in, and also paid tribute to winning skip Alan Ley, who has just completed more than 700 games for Oxfordshire.
