Wallingford made it two wins out of two with an unconvincing 21-12 victory over Bletchley in South West 1 East.
In a scrappy affair, the visitors could easily have come away with the two points, had their young outside half enjoyed a better day with the boot.
The visitors led with an unconverted try, before Wallingford’s Pete Strang slotted a penalty to reduce the arrears.
A second Bletchley try, this time converted, was answered in kind when centre Johnny Collett, who had a powerful game with his direct lines of running, put Richard Turner away.
Strang narrowly missed the conversion, which meant Wallingford went in 12-8 down at half-time.
After the break, Wallingford reduced the deficit further when Strang slotted another penalty after the visitors were penalised for killing the ball at a ruck.
The introduction of Paul Lewis gave Wallingford a lift and with 15 minutes to go, they finally took the lead thanks to flanker Will Woodward, who sprinted in from 30 metres for Strang to convert.
Ill-discipline also began to hurt the visitors as they conceded a string of penalties.
Strang again made them pay with three more points.
