Highworth 0
Abingdon Utd 3 (Mills 16, 27, Beechers 37)
John Mills kept up his sensation striking form with a double as Abingdon breezed past their former Hellenic League rivals.
Mills, who had struck five goals in the Southern League game against Uxbridge the previous week, netted twice more as Abingdon had the tie wrapped up by half-time.
The visitors could even afford to miss a first-minute penalty, awarded harshly as Mills went down inside the area.
But home keeper Ben Goodey guessed correctly and saved Anaclet Odhiambo’s spot-kick, Abingdon took the lead when a ball floated over the defence from Simon Good-rham dropped into the path of Mills, who lobbed over Goodey.
It became 2-0 when Goodey could not hold on to Julian McCalmon’s fierce free-kick and the alert Mills crashed in the rebound.
The match was settled when Billy Beechers evaded two challenges as he went across the edge of the area and pulled his shot back into the bottom corner of the net.
Highworth were reduced to ten men in the second half, when skipper Tom Cole received his second yellow card for a bad foul Odhiambo.
Jon Beames made two saves to make sure there was no Highworth revival.
