Thame Utd 0
Burnham 2 (Papali 6), Saunders 16
Two defensive errors cost Thame as they slipped to defeat against their unbeaten Southern League Division 1 South & East opponents in the FA Cup 1st qualifying round.
However, Burnham’s opening goal in the sixth minute still relied on a measure of good fortune, with the ball finding its way to Dean Papali after two mis-hit crosses.
Ten minutes later it was 2-0 when a cross from the left was met by Rob Saunders, unmarked ten yards from goal, who finished well from a tight angle.
United’s best effort came in the 38th minute from Lawrence El-Kassir whose 30-yard shot was pushed over the bar.
Thame knew luck had deserted them in the second half when Luke Ricketts was upended in the penalty area, with the referee awarding a goalkick and Ricketts being forced off with a head injury.
Thame United: Orkney, Cowan (Meredith), Wakelin, N Rhodes, Hocking, A Rhodes, El-Kassir, Barr, Jones (Way), Rogers, Ricketts (Hoskin).
Attendance: 113.
