Oxford United chairman Kelvin Thomas has rebuffed claims that Chris Wilder is set to join League 2 side Rotherham.
Thomas revealed that the club are yet to receive an official approach from the Yorkshire side – but does not believe that Wilder will want to leave the U’s for the Millers, despite being early pace-setters in League 2.
“Chris is not going to leave (Oxford United) for clubs of smaller size than us, or less ambition”, said Thomas, who last week was forced to answer the same question about Lincoln City.
“I can’t see Rotherham being Chris’s next destination.”
Thomas continued, “Me and Chris talk about this a lot.
“A Championship or Premiership club is an opportunity he (Wilder) couldn’t turn down.
“However if he can achieve success here, he’ll be where he wants to be.”
