Andy Benwell (Predator) is this year’s Carp League 2009 champion with one more match left in the series.
With 18 points, he cannot be caught.
Last Sunday, 17 matchmen fished the Canal Pool at Tunnel Barn, which performed very well, and Benwell clinched the title with a net of carp, F1 and barbel on paste worth 113.7.0.
A similar bag of fish gave Matt Ryman (Predator) second with 85.14.0. He also fished paste.
Fishing caster long to the island, Nick Dean (Maggots End) was third with 77.1.0.

Beehive AC fished the third leg of their Beehive Cup at Lower Court, where conditions were perfect.
Kevin Jeacock had a day to remember, beating the previous club record of 217lb set by Andy Crabb, by putting 219.8.0 on the scales. Most of his fish came from the margins to either hemp or maggot.
Nigel Waters also fished the margins with maggot or corn, weighing in 56.8.0 for second place.
Fishing the pole and maggot shallow, Steve Dingle was third with 54.8.0.
Yarnton travelled over to Boddington for their Ron Cox Memorial Cup fished by 14 anglers.
Paul Willoughby lifted the cup with a bag of carp on the lead with pellet weighing 90.12.0.
Jamie Willoughby was second with another net of carp on the method-feeder going 73.6.0, and third with 66.13.0 was Nick Collier, who had all his fish in the last 90 minutes.
Masons’ Simmonds Cup was fished by 17 at Stable Lake, Kirtlington, where the carp did not seem to settle, so everyone was alternating between pole and feeder.
Gary Pether used either maggot or pellet for a winning 45.8.0 of carp, followed by Chris Webb with 30.0.0. Mick Newitt was third with 29.0.0 of carp.
There was a good turn-out of 15 for the Jolly Anglers’ Centenary Match on their Benson Reach of the Thames.
Warren Cave fished the pole at 16 metres with worm to take chub, skimmers, roach and perch for a winning 16.6.0.
Bill Davis was second with 10.8.0. He caught 7lb of bleak on the whip and maggot and then switched to the waggler for a few skimmers and roach.
Martin MacDonald caught 48 roach and skimmers on maggot for 10.2.0 and third.
They paid out on fourth place on this match and it was Tony Davies with 9.14.0 who took the money. He fished the maggot-feeder and landed three good chub, plus bits.
Littlemore were on their stretch of the Thames at Sandford for their Vice Presidents Cup and the 12 anglers paid respect to their former president and vice president Richard Butler beforehand.
Gerald Perks won his second match on the spin with an all-roach catch of 14.5.0, taken on the waggler with his trusted caster and hemp.
Alan Campbell was the bridesmaid again, putting 8.2.0 of roach on the scales after fishing the waggler with maggot and hemp, pipping Ken Franklin by an ounce. He fished the waggler with maggot and caught small chub and roach.
North Oxford were on the Cherwell at Marston Ferry link road for their Foster Cup, and the seven members found the fishing good, with only a couple of punts coming through.
Fishing the pole and punch, Maurice Winstone caught skimmers and roach for a winning 9.8.0.
Anthony Tompkins settled for second with 8.13.0 after fishing maggot over chop for a mixed bag of silver fish, followed by Ron Hamblin with 5.4.0 of small skimmers and roach on maggot.
The Otneys stretch of the Thames was the venue for Sutton Courtenay’s Dawson Memorial, fished by 14, who all caught.
Fishing the waggler with maggot and feeding hemp, Alan Hewer triumphed with a net of roach weighing 8.2.0.
Steve Pugh used the groundbait feeder and maggot for 7.9.0 of skimmers and second place, while Brian Thomas weighed in 7.0.0 of skimmers, also on the feeder, for third.
For the second week running, there were only three members fishing the Oxford Bus AC match held on their School Waters.
George Kingston weighed in a net of small roach and perch on waggler and worm worth a winning 3.13.0.
Dennis Butler also had small roach and perch on the pole midstream with maggot for a second-placed 3.0.0, while Terry Yates caught small roach, perch and the odd bleak for 2.3.0 on third.
The Thames at Benson looked in good nick for Benson’s Roach Cup fished by seven, but it proved poor for the roach which only counted on this match – everything else was put back.
Ian Fisher used liquidised bread and flake to win with 3.6.0, followed by Lol Budd, who fished the waggler and maggot for 2.8.0. Mick Marriott and Dave Head were joint third with 1.14.0.
