Billy Evans is sticking to his guns and still banning foreign anglers from his Field Farm Fisheries at Launton, near Bicester, after some of them were caught removing his carp.
The Oxford Mail broke the story and now both the weekly national angling papers have reported it.
Billy is being accused as racist as the sign he has put up reads: ‘No Polish or Eastern Block Fishers Allowed’.
I would have thought changing it to ‘Fishing at Owner’s Discretion’ would be more acceptable.
l THE weather is slowly becoming autumnal and I love this time of year.
There are fewer anglers on the bank and fish are putting on weight to see them through the winter.
I shall be driving down to the Kennet to try and tempt one of the large barbel, but will also have a go for some chub which in this stretch grow to over 7lb.
My best is 6.3.0, which I caught a couple of years ago.
Another fish I would like to have a go at are perch. I used to fish Chad Lakes for them, but with the Thames on my doorstep, plus Milton Pools at Wheatley only a short drive away, these are two venues that I shall be trying.
- Lechlade Trout Lake has re-opened with a whimper rather than a bang and the fishing is tough.
On Bushyleaze, 617 anglers caught 1,676 trout in August.
One angler, on a six-fish ticket, had fish of 2.12.0, 6.10.0, 7.10.0, 9.8.0, 10.12.0 and 12.6.0.
