Paul Humphreys was the hero as Aston Rowant’s revival in Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League Division 2 West continued with a five-wicket win at basement boys Burnham.
Batting first, Burnham recovered well after the early loss of opener Mujtaba Ahmed.
Habib Khan and Mohammed Fazal (64) put together a a second-wicket partnership of 96 off 15 overs, before Ryan Dutton removed them both leaving Burnham at 116-3.
Humphreys then set about Burnham’s middle order with 3-16 off eight overs before Tim Miles removed the tail as Burnham were bowled out for 171.
The match was in the balalnce when Rowant were reduced to 45-3, but a stand of 73 from Alex Jewell (40) and Chris Watling (50no) set the platform for Rowant’s winning run chase, with contributions from Wes Morrick (18) and Karl Penhale (14).
