Sandy Bolton will make his international debut for Scotland in the European Amateur Boys Team Championship next week.
The 17-year-old from Abingdon is in Scotland’s team of six for the event at Utrecht Golf Club de Pan, Netherlands from July 7-11.
Bolton, who is a member at Magnolia Park and Goring & Streatley, joins fellow Abingdon resident Eddie Pepperell, who is representing England, at the event.
The plus two-handicapper plays in the BB&O men’s team and was also party of the county boys’ side, who won the south and south east championships.
In May, Bolton finished in the top 20 in the Scottish Men’s Open Stroke Play Championship at Murcar in Aberdeen.
He qualifies for Scotland through his father David, a former pro at Hinksey Heights and assistant at Frilford Heath, who has coached him since the age of four.
Bolton senior said: “I believe this international recognition will give Sandy invaluable experience.”
