Tail-enders Angus Brown and Louis Pennington starred as Oxfordshire Under 12s edged to a thrilling one-wicket victory against Dorset at Milton Abbey School. Oxfordshire were still 40 runs from victory, before Brown and Pennington shared the biggest partnership of the innings to see the side home. Dorset batted first on a hard and fast pitch, and posted 180 all out. Josh Halkatty (39) and James Williams (41no) led the way. Aided by 51 extras, the home side looked like setting well in excess of 200, but a fine fielding display and tight bowling restricted Dorset. Oxfordshire’s innings began badly, and they were 15-3 after five overs. Barney Wilkinson and Callum Russell put on 59. But the introduction of spin saw Oxon slump to 117-8. Captain Nick Lancaster hit a quick 25, but when he fell with the score on 141, Oxon seemed to be staring down the barrel. But Brown batted superbly and was well-supported by Pennington as they edged to victory with a 40-run stand.
