Oxford United chairman Kelvin Thomas is delighted that the club’s ‘Box Clever’ idea – where a company will win an executive box for the season – has proved a big hit with not just United, but other Football League clubs.
Having launched the idea last week, two League clubs – Wycombe and Southend – have followed United’s lead and launched the same offer.
“Everyone knows the team are in good shape, but it’s just as important that we make progress as a business,” Thomas said.
“With a little bit of clever thinking, it seems like we have hit upon an idea which has caught the imagination.
“We have had a great response, so I wasn’t really surprised to see it appearing in other places, and it is a compliment to David Jackson (commercial manager) and the staff that we are moving forward.”
