Headington A took advantage of Banbury Central’s rest week to go top of Division 1 in the Oxford & District Bowls League, sponsored by Yarnton Nurseries.
They secured a 5-1 away win at struggling Shiplake, Dave Hall’s four scoring the only point for the home team.
West Witney’s Mike Hitchcox scored the biggest win of the day against Carterton in the west Oxfordshire derby.
His score secured the victory and three points as Carterton won on the other three rinks.
Bicester go third after Kevin Taylor’s four hit back from 15-1 down to help secure victory over City & County A.
Bottom club Blackbird Leys upset the odds by beating Banbury Chestnuts away which means South Oxford stay top of Division 2.
Another win for Witney Mills sees them stay top in Division 3. They beat Banbury Central B who drop to fourth.
Kidlington go clear in second place with a whitewash of Chipping Norton.
In Division 4, OUP secured their first win of the season, despite being a man down away at Chadlington.
With Headington B resting, Witney Town move top with a home win over West Oxford.
