Oxford City’s rising star Danielle Anderson threw a lifetime best of 44.99m to land the silver medal at the Southern Counties Under 20 Championships in Watford.
The competition was won by Petrea Lungren from Herts Phoenix with a throw of 45.64.
Anderson’s throw beat Izzy Jeffs, the current UK No 1, into third place.
She has now returned to No 1 in the UK for under 17s and is eyeing selection to one of the Great Britain youth teams this summer.
Anderson’s coach Barry Symonds said: “Danielle has the target of a GB vest in a youth international this year, and there are a couple of opportunities.
“She has to hit a target, just as Hannah England and Nathan Douglas have done at senior level.
“The target is 46 metres, so she’s only a metre short, which in javelin throwing is not very much.
“She is top of the rankings for her age group, and she is improving every week.”
