Frilford Heath’s Derek Craik Jr and Nick Evans were narrowly denied a trip to Turkey for the Virgin Atlantic PGA National Pro-Am Championship final.
Professional Craik and his amateur partner Evans shot a seven-under-par 65 in the regional final on the Green Course at their home club.
But they and Stoke Park duo Stuart Collier and Simon Allard, who also carded 65, were edged out on countback by Royal Mid Surrey pro Matthew Paget and amateur Michael Cardinal.
The Frilford pair had been the first team out and held the advantage for four hours before birdies on the final two holes proved enough for their Royal Mid Surrey rivals.
Now they will play the PGA Sultan Course at Antalya Golf Club in Turkey this December and enjoy and all-expenses paid trip to the Sirene Beach & Hotel Resort.
Waterstock pro Paul Bryant and amateur Spencer Dawkins, plus Adam Souter and Anthony Wright, from The Wychwood, were tied for fourth spot on 66.
