Carterton had a week to forget in the Oxford & District League, sponsored by Yarnton Nurseries, as they were unable to field a team for the Division 1 clash at Headington A – and conceded the match.
With Headington being gifted a 6-0 victory, it took them level on points with Banbury Central A at the top.
Central posted a 5-1 victory at West Witney, with captain Mark Sykes chalking up a 20-shot win.
In the other top flight game, City & County A beat Shiplake 5-1.
Alan Ley’s four picked up a ‘hotshot’ – a maximum eight shots – on the second end, which proved decisive as Dave Hall’s rink finished strongly to only go down 22-18.
South Oxford stay top of Division 2 after beating Cotswold 4-2, with wins for Mick Keen and John Hall.
Unbeaten skip Gary Lazaruk continued his good form with a 28-9 victory to help Thame to a 5-1 win over Oxford City & County B.
Witney Mills stepped up their promotion push in Division 3 with a 5-1 win at Rover.
Division 4 is starting to look a two-horse race with Headington B and Witney Town securing away wins at West Oxford and Florence Park respectively.
Florence Park could perhaps consider themselves unlucky to go down 5-1 as they lost 74-73.
